Three words

These are all three word statements that have been put upon my heart.

Jesus is God.
Jesus is real.
Jesus has come.
Jesus is good.
He is alive.
He is worthy.
He is awesome.
God is Sovereign.
I'm a sinner.
It's a mystery.
Lord, be merciful.
It is finished.
I need Jesus.

I guess there are a few four word statements running through my mind often as well that go like this

Don't waste your life
His will be done

That's all.

I need Jesus.

Structure

I need structure. I really need a schedule. I don't know why, but it seems without one, I'm not productive in any sense of word. Although one might say that I'm quite productive in the areas of laziness, and chillin' but, that really doesn't help the furthering of Christ's kingdom much. I suppose that's where my desire for structure spawns from. Without it, not only am I lacking in servitude, but I'm neglecting my own soul by not meeting with Him as often as I should.

It's hard to get a large fire roaring if you're only putting a twig or two on top of the embers every 24 hours. I suppose that's how I feel about where I've been at the last couple of weeks.

So needless to say, I'm quite excited for some structure. That will be coming soon here with my venture into summer staffing. So, I told you I'd get back with you all about how I felt about my upcoming internship with colonial. I'm quite excited. It'd be cool if God turned my world upside down again.

Billy Hastings and I have a new quote we use fairly often.
It goes like this: "I need Jesus"

Boy do I ever.

The game

I was tagged by http://nickwelch.blogspot.com/ (Nick Welch)
Here are the rules:

1. the rules of the game get posted at the beginning.
2. each player answers the questions about himself or herself.
3. at the end of the post, the player then tags five people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know they’ve been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

1. ten years ago I was doing...
I suppose it would've looked like a lot of nothing. I lived out in edwardsville. I went over to my neighbors house alot and played video games. I played video games at my house too. Often I'd go outside and play on the fat of the land. I did school, but that stunk.

2. five things on today’s to do list...
1. Study for my lab practical tomorrow.
2. Go to band practice
3. Get some sleep
4. Read the Bible and pray/ read up on the post-modern world we live in
5. Listen to Meshuggah

3. things I’d do if I were a billionaire...
If I was a billionaire, I think I'd have to do a lot of praying as to what would be done with that moeny. I'm not the greatest steward (spelling?) of what God has given me now. I can't imagine having a billion dollars laying around. I hope it would be used in such a way to further the kingdom of Christ. I would probably buy everyone I know a copy of seeing and savoring Christ by John Piper (one of my favorite books that's not the bible), and then give them 100 dollars after the had read it and written me a two page report so that I know they read it. If I was to spend money for my own selfish desires, I'd most likely immediately buy a ferrari or two and I'd use some of the money for my band to go on tour.

4. three bad habits...
1. I'm gonna quote Nick Welch word for word here. "Laziness-I realize this is somewhat broad, but it affects most of my life, so I would really like to figure out how to get rid of it"
2. Because I am lazy, this results in a lot of idle time. Idle time is certainly a bad habit, that most often can lead and does lead to other bad habits.
3. This is actually a good habit, though some would consider it bad. maybe it's more of an addiction. ROOSTER BOOSTER. Enough said.

5. five places i’ve lived...
1. Kansas City (edwardsville/bonner springs/overland park) That's about it...

6. five jobs i’ve had in life...
1. Construction odd jobs with dad.
2. Tobacconist at Diebels
3. Popcorn popper at the REN FEST.
4. Soon to be intern at colonial pres
5. Living Life (hey, it can be a job sometimes.)

7. 5 tagged people
1. http://billybobsgarden.blogspot.com/ (Billy)
2. http://knoth.blogspot.com/ (KK)
3. http://bluepineapples22.blogspot.com/ (Emily)
4. Becca Parsons (self explained)
5. http://jonjams.blogspot.com/ (Rodick)

Golly, I dunno why I did this.
what a silly thing.

3:27

It's 3:27 in the morning, and I just feel like writing.
With that being said, I don't know how to articulate what I want to say, and I'm not even sure if I know what I want to say.

Jon Rodick and I talked about heaven this evening. Is your view/sight of Christ to small? If you answered no, I would emphatically say you're wrong. Christians- we need to think about heaven. Do we realize that heaven is the end of God's salvation. And of course, this is not to imply that heaven ends. What I'm getting at is this. Christian, you will spend ETERNITY in heaven. What is heaven? What will we do there? Why would one want to go there?

The bible is fairly vague on the matter, but it is indeed true that Christ is there bodily. It is also true that deity dwells in Him fully and shines in His face. So I suppose what I'm getting at is this. Christ will be in heaven, and this is heaven- seeing and savoring Christ for who He is. Is this your souls delight now? If you do not delight in this now, what will you do in heaven then?

It might be just me (and i don't think it is), but anything less than seeing Christ as He is in heaven for all eternity sounds boring to me. Perhaps what I'm getting at is, We need to think more about who Jesus is. Who is He? Our first answer should be "the son of God" but we should never end there. He didn't intend for us to.
----------------------------------------------------
Outside of that realm, I had another grand conversation with Billy. We are too often afraid of what the "world" will think of us when we tell them about our God. Christian- please don't water down who God is for the sake of not being ridiculed by the world. God isn't changing. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. We don't need to change Him for others. He is culturally relevant because He is eternal, and He is our creator. We don't need to change his face for the culture. The culture needs to see Him for who He is and what He has done at the cross through His son. How can the culture see that if we're not faithful to His word? We'll never be fully faithful to it, but that doesn't mean we must not try. I won't lie, I fear man. But if we are faithful to our God, then who shall we fear? Even so, if we are not faithful, He is faithful to us. Who shall we fear then? God is to be worshipped and known for who He is. I think that's a bit of what our conversation looked like. Dig deep! I also mentioned how I look forward to having a wife (if I'm called), but also I have the realization that she can't fill my need for God. She can't fill the "hole" that only Christ can. So then ladies, be awesome wives to your husbands and point them to Christ- the only one who can be their souls true delight. That is the beginning and end of true romance: pointing one another to the one who can love and does love like no one else can.
----------------------------------------------------

Lastly, I talk to much. If you agree, say yes. When you say yes, please rebuke me, and encourage me to be slow to speak. sorry for the ramblings. it's what i do best.

Early mornin' blues

I woke up at 7:40 this morning to take a buddy to class. I think that's the earliest I've gotten out of bed for quite a while. Mornings should be refreshing and exciting. Rarely do they feel that way. I guess that's my fault.

I'm being taught many a lesson in the area of humility and self-sufficiency. Tough lessons. Slow to learn, quick to question. It's a good thing the Lord is patient, and gracious- infinitely so. It seems most of my hours outside being taught lessons are fights to see who Jesus is. Atleast I'm fighting, but it'd be great if there were a whole lot more seein' goin on. I guess I can't complain too much. I don't deserve the glimpses I get, and I need to stop acting like I do.

People keep asking how excited I am about this summer and the internship I'm serving. Is it a bad thing when I say I don't think it about it all that much? I suppose I just take the stance of when it comes, it comes and I'll think about it then. The Lord has me where I'm at now, so I'm going to think about where I'm at now opposed to where I'll be at when I'm there. That probably made no sense to any of you, but it is 8:43 in the morning after all.

I think blogspot isn't much different than xanga. It's a site for more mature bloggers. Even so, I imagine I'll look back at this in five years if it's still around and say "Boy was I immature." I hope I can say that atleast. When God stops growing me up and stretching me, I begin to worry. Here's an answer to a previous question. How excited am I for the internship? Quite. I'm hoping God will stretch me like taffy. That'll be quite odd if He does though. A taller skinnier Blake would be a much scarier Blake.

Refreshment

Acts 3:19
Therefore repent and return, so that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.

This and...

John 6:44
No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him

are both happening in my life, all because of this-

Romans 8:38-39
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

and these-
Lamentations 3:22-23
The LORD'S lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.

2 Timothy 2:13
If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.

Philippians 1:6
For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

So what does all this scripture mean? It simply means that I'm being drawn to Christ, and I can't help it. I have no where else to go or look. (John 6:66-69). I don't want to look anywhere else. My eyes have been opened, and I still see regardless of how dim or fogged my vision becomes. My flesh wants me to say no to Jesus. The powers of this earth want me to say no to His being a man. No to His being fully God. No to the accomplishment of His cross. No to His ressurection. I can't say no. Praise be to God, I cannot say no, and Lord let it be so from now until the end of time.

(scriptures pulled from the NASB version)
